Walking

We love to go walking in the Yorkshire Dales but our favourite hotel (Rowleth End) closed a couple of years ago. Since then we have been to a number of other hotels but have now found our new favourite.

Simonstone Hall has everything we want, it is luxurious without being stuffy, the food in the restaurant is superb (the best breakfast I have ever had in the Dales) and the rooms are clean and comfortable.

The staff are friendly and the bar, famous for an incident with Jeremy Clarkson and there is a plaque on the wall to prove it, gives you a chance to meet other guests.

They have been running a very affordable special offer over the winter months which includes dinner bed and breakfast plus prosecco and chocolates.

The market town of Hawes is a short distance away which has interesting shops and the marvellous Wensleydale Creamery where you can taste a wide selection of cheeses. I recommend both the restaurant and café there.

The walking opportunities in the area are many and varied.

We will certainly be going back again!
