“Great little place to stay. Warm cosy room.”:http://applepieambleside.co.uk/accommodation
We wanted a relatively cheap place to stay in our beloved Lake District as a short break after we were both ill for a few weeks. We know the Apple Pie well as we’ve eaten there on many occasions since we discovered this beautiful part if the world, 30 years ago. Remembered the last time we came that they have rooms to let so thought we’d give them a try. £60 per night for the room. Not a big room but all the facilities you need, i.e., tea and coffee making equipment, a tv, ensuite shower room. All lovely and clean. Comfiest bed ever. They will change bedding etc and tidy the room each day if you require. We put our do not disturb sign on the door as we like a long lie in and are quite tidy anyway. Staff were so friendly and helpful. We ate excellent full English breakfasts at the Apple Pie next door £7.95 A great start to the day especially if you want to go off walking. Situated in Ambleside town itself (surprisingly quiet room) meant we could easily walk to any pubs, restaurants, shops etc. Hardly used the car. Several great walks from Ambleside. We dined in Zeffirelli’s and Fellini’s in Ambleside, two nights , great Italian food and their own cinema screens so we saw two current films all for £21.95 each for the film/two course meal deals. We were graced with lovely dry though very cold weather (well it was first week of February) we came home restored to health and thoroughly rested. Extra bonus the rooms were once Beatrix Potter’s husband’s offices and she apparently visited on many occasions. Thoroughly recommend.
