“Romeo’s Corner Cafe”:https://www.romeoscornercafeon.ca/, like its name suggests is on a corner – Ontario Street and Romeo Street to be exact – in Stratford, Ontario. I tried it for the first time the other week with my sister who had been before for breakfast which is served all day. Inside it has the bones of an old diner but it has been modernized. We went for dinner before walking over to the Stratford Festival Theatre to see “The Tempest”:https://www.silvertraveladvisor.com/review?id=189027.
We started with drinks. My sister had one of the local beers that had hibiscus in it. I had a pear mimosa. The ale smelled good, like I find most fruity teas do and fail to taste as good. The mimosa was good but quite small for its $10 price.
The food was excellent. My sister had a turkey burger without the bun and broccoli soup. She was surprised that the soup wasn’t creamed, but in fairness, it didn’t say that it would be. I had a Reuben sandwich with perfect sauerkraut and provolone cheese and grainy mustard and fries on the side. I topped off my meal with a lovely latte, partly to try the espresso bar and partly to keep my sister company as she finished her pint. I especially like a latte I don’t have to add sugar to and this one was perfect.
The service was efficient and friendly. The café seems to be a bit out of the way as it isn’t downtown where most of the pre-theatre restaurants are. However, it’s perfect for walking over to the Festival Theatre. Price wise it is pretty reasonable as the bill was under $40 including drinks and tip.
It opens at 8:00 am; it’s closed on Monday, open until 3:00 pm Sunday, Tuesday and Wednesday and open until 8:00 pm on Thursday to Saturday.
