It was during the hot sultry weather when we visited Bath, and a trip up the River Avon in an open topped boat seemed just the ticket! Pulteney Cruisers operate a unique service of two decked vessels with sundeck on top and cabin below. We decided to sit at the top, so that we could see as much of the wonderful scenery as possible. We left the Pulteney Weir and ventured up river towards Bathampton. On the way we passed by tranquil trees which lapped into the waters, we even saw a flash of blue, and realised to our delight that it was a kingfisher who settled onto a nearby tree. Punts and rowing boats were also using the waterway, but apart from our boat we saw no other motorised vessel, so it was so peaceful and calm. The trip to Bathampton weir took half an hour, where the boat turned around. You could choose to stay on board or get off. We decided to explore. Bathampton Mill served drinks, and had lovely views over the river, so this was our choice. We caught the returning boat later on that afternoon. We really enjoyed the trip and would certainly return to do it again!
