Ricky’s is a country-wide chain of restaurants, with this particular one being found inside the Elk & Avenue Hotel in Banff.
We’d returned to Banff in the early afternoon after our dog-sledding experience, and were looking for food, drink, and warmth! (The temperatures during the sled ride had been around -15!). Ricky’s fitted the bill perfectly.
We had excellent cocktails (I always go for one that’s whisky/bourbon-based, my wife usually has fizz of some description), and we both chose a burger for lunch. Mine was a “Texas Star” (with pulled pork and bbq sauce) and my wife chose the “Mighty Mushroom”, which she particularly enjoyed as she was able to opt to have the burger wrapped in a lettuce leaf rather than the usual bun. She liked it because it was less filling – but it didn’t seem like a proper burger to me!
It wasn’t fine dining by any means, but it was reasonably priced and good quality food and drink.
