First visit, never been to a RHS garden anywhere before.
Found the on-line booking a bit difficult especially when it came to booking the use of two Mobilty Scooters. These you can reserve for a morning or an afternoon or as in our case for the full day. It took me a little while to guess that for all day use, I needed to book a morning and an afternoon slot as two separate transactions. Eventually it all fitted and was OK. However problems started when I need to check some details of my booking and tried to do this by phone. I just wanted to speak to someone , any one, at Bridgewater. The quoted number shown on the website ending “6100” just rang and rang and was never answered by a human.
It made no difference what time of the day and the frequency of my calls. All went unanswered.
So; when the day arrived for our pre booked visit, and it was raining, I expected the worse. However we had a very pleasant surprise. We had a wonderful day at Bridgewater.
The mobility scooters looked almost brand new and worked well. The paths had excellent surfaces, smooth without potholes.
The garden staff, volunteers or employed, are pleasant and very helpful.
I had heard that dinning was expensive so we took a packed lunch. Dinning alfresco is not a problem as there are no shortage of benches upon which one can sit and dine!
Thankfully the rain stopped, the sun shone. To us the garden was full of colour.
The walled garden and other planting areas are great. But so also is the rest of the park land with surfaced pathways galore to follow.
Yes there is developing work taking place but this did not detract from the overall pleasure we got from our visit.
