Apart from the weather, our holiday was made complete by the Domes Lake Algarve resort. Its excellent location near from Faro airport meant we were there within 25 minutes. Before long we were ushered by the receptionist to our room and shown the facilities but not before signing us up to the activities on offer – a wine tasting session, kayaking, mixology class and a cookery masterclass for us both in the week . Bottle of prosecco and goodies were in our room to greet us. We were also members of the executive lounge so food and drinks were available all day as well as the excellent buffet breakfast and dinner.
Outside were three pools, one heated, one not and one a beach style with sand. The resort is famed for its large sea water fed lake with its floating restaurant. Well manicured gardens surrounded it and it had access to the nearby excellent Praia de Felicia a short stroll away.
Nearby Villamoura had a good vibe about it with shops, cafes and restaurants. From there we took a 3 hours long cruise on the Ocean Quest catamaran along the coastline to the rock formations and cave going into the famed Benagil cave with its own beach and sink hole above it in which were many people and kayakers.
We also went on a whole day excursion inland to Silves and Montechique and were picked up from the hotel who helped us book it as well. it was easy to hail Bolt or Uber taxis if we wanted to go out with a few available within 4 minutes of hailing by app. The hotel staff were very helpful and knew the answer to all our queries.
