The Quinta da Casa Branca is a five star boutique hotel with just 49 rooms. We booked a package deal through Jet2 Holidays Indulgent Escapes (see separate review).
The hotel set in 6 hectares of botanical gardens originally developed in the 18th century by John Leacock, an English merchant of Madeira Wine. The property remains owned by John Leacock’s descendants. The original manor house holds the hotel dining room and some suites. The other facilities of the hotel are of prize-winning modern design and include garden rooms with secluded patios, bar, restaurant and health centre.
We booked a garden room with a half board option, as there are a number of bars and restaurants nearby. An extensive breakfast is served in the hotel restaurant and superb a la carte dinners In the Manor House dining room. All the hotel staff were friendly and helpful, especially in reception, bars, restaurant and dining room where they were really supportive and all spoke perfect English.
We thoroughly enjoyed a delightful and relaxing week’s holiday in good weather and a superb hotel which deserves its inclusion as a Small Luxury Hotel of the World.
