Reasons for trip

I’m a big fan of Prezzo and the branch at London’s Victoria Station was chosen for lunch with my god-daughters as we were all coming into the station from different angles.

The restaurant’s up two escalators at the back of the station and slightly hidden away with lots of other chain-style restaurants.

God-daughters’ Mum is on the dreaded Weight Watchers and was just going to have the butternut squash and rosemary soup whilst the three of us tucked into our choice of pizza. Unfortunately, this had been replaced by a strange sounding combination of minestrone with mozzarella which she didn’t like the sound of (and I agree). As this wasn’t pointed out when the menus were presented, she needed a few more moments to think again.

Unfortunately, around ten minutes elapsed and the waitress still hadn’t returned and we had to ask the manager to get someone to take our order. She didn’t explain to the second waitress that we’d been waiting a while and she innocently came up the table and asked in a cheery voice, ‘are you ready to order’? By this point, God-daughters Mum had settled for a pizza in desperation – although to be fair she did have the low calorie one that comes with a lighter dough and salad.

All our pizzas were great. I had my usual Vesuvius which is the hottest one they do, especially with the addition of chilli oil.

We sat catching up and discussing what we would have had for pudding if we’d not been too full: mine was amaretto and peach cheesecake. During this time, a group of around 12 rather noisy teenage uniformed school children came in and caused utter disruption as tables were pushed together. We left as one of them got out sushi and began eating it at the table.

So, not the best Prezzo experience, but it hasn’t put me off.
