I always stay at this hotel when I visit my family who live near Durham. For years I have been making the journey and have been frustrated at the lack of reasonably priced hotels in Durham city centre. Premier travel inn have built this hotel in a prime location by the river. It has all the facilities you would expect from a budget hotel but I would place this in a category of 'higher quality' budget hotels. The rooms are always clean and have high quality facilities that are functional yet comfortable. The bathroom has good quality fittings that are always clean and working well. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff who take pride in providing a comfortable and relaxing atmosphere.
Everything is spotless, the staff are friendly and the hotel rooms spacious and have everything you need for a short stay. Durham itself has lots to offer with medieval buildings such as the castle and cathedral as well as modern shopping and entertainment facilities on the doorstep.
Booking is easy, I prefer to do it online as the system can be paperless but you can just as easily book over the phone. If you book early or through a special offer the rooms are cheaper than less desirable competitors. As I always travel by train car parking isn't an issue but, as it is a city centre you do have to pay if you wish to park your car. However, this is made less painful if you take advantage of the hotel's arrangements with a multi story car park to the rear of the hotel.
