On the trail of beautiful locations shown in the Poldark TV series we set out to find Porthgwarra beach right on the tip of Cornwall. Tip. Buy a large scale Ordnance Survey map of Lands End/Penwith. About 6 miles from Mousehole, 3 miles from Lands End you wind down to one of the most spectacular fishing locations in Cornwall. This tiny steep Cove where if you are lucky you will see a Seal. Walkers will delight in this walking haven in some of the most iconic coves & bays. The reward is this delightful little Cafe in a restored fishing tackle store serving the most delicious Cornish cream teas & cakes or Pasties. Tip. Choose a driver who is good at reversing! To lay-bys. There is a good car park next to the Cafe.
Nearby is the delightful Mousehole & interesting fishing port of Newlyn. St.Michael’s Mount appears like a fairy tale castle on your way home or stay in the Godolphin Arms with a magnificent direct view of the Castle (a delicious breakfast) & walk at low tide along the granite causeway to the castle.
There is so much to do & see in that area not forgetting the iconic tin Mines of Bottalac & Geevor where more Poldack scenes were filmed. You can take an underground tour at Geevor mine.
