Enjoyed a very nice afternoon tea here – a treat by granddaughter for her Mum, brother and we grandparents to celebrate her Mum’s birthday.
We all had the afternoon tea, with a selection of very tasty sandwiches, scones with jam and cream, and a variety of cakes.
They have a very good menu with a range of offerings from breakfast, through lunch, to afternoon teas – opening at 09.00 and closing at 16.30 (half-past-four to anyone who’s still using ‘old money’).
Choices include hot and cold; and gluten free (see photo of menu) and all at very good prices and, judging from our experience, excellent quality.
If you can’t get through all the cakes/scones/sandwiches they’ll put them in a box to take back home/to your digs.
Parking in the immediate vicinity is free but limited to 2 hours, and you need to display a ‘disk’ – but there’s also free, unlimited, parking by the riverside and at other car parks around the town centre, and across the bridge beside Farmfoods.
Note that it’s an alcohol-free tea rooms.
Will be dropping in here again.
One word of warning – the gift shop at ground level (the cafe is below) might make visit cost more than the cafe offering 🙂
