After a riverside walk in York, we arrived back in the city centre and wanted a lunchtime drink. We spotted tables and chairs set outside on a cobbled river front area and, as it was a sunny October, day it was ideal for a pint of cider and coffee.
The following day, we finished a trip on the river and fancied something to warm us up as it had been a bit chilly. We spotted that the riverside seating area we’d visited before, was served from “Plonkers Wine Bar and Bistro”:http://www.plonkerswinebar.co.uk/, just up a small side street.
As with many other places in York, it didn’t have much of a frontage or look much from the outside, but it was long and narrow and so we went through and got a table near the back. Although we were just going to have coffee, the laminated brunch menu tempted us with a bacon bun and a sausage and caramelised onion bun (£6.95 each).
When they arrived, they were absolutely delicious, and the bacon was well stacked.
The toilets were upstairs. as was another smaller seating area.
It’s definitely a place we’d think of returning to in the evening on our next visit.
