I stayed at Labranda Marina Riviera Hotel in Gran Canaria. It was in a very peaceful area of Playa del Cura – a little complex of 4 hotels and some apartments. One Spar shop-one restaurant-but as it was all inclusive you did not need anything really. The Atlantic Ocean was just a few yards away from the hotel. There were 3 swimming pools and an outside snack bar where you could get drinks and snacks all day long. There were some pool tables and some organised activities but nothing strenuous. Some children were staying there but it was half term. Everything from the rooms to the service was faultless. The food was extensive-catered for every taste. The hotel was on a level part of the island so no climbing to the hotel.
Just outside the complex was a pick up point for local buses which were cheap, comfortable and frequent. I went to a place called Mogan-a lovely Cran Canarian village/resort with many restaurants, shops and flowers everywhere. There was a beach and a port.
The hotel was some way away from the airport but that was because I was on a shuttle bus. If you took a taxi or local bus it would probably be half an hour away. All in all if you want a peaceful, lazy stay I can recommend Labrand Riviera Marina.
