Arrived in a coach party to find we were not expected due to misunderstanding, but.very quickly made welcome and were given tea or coffee with the best Welsh Griddle Scones ever. Then if you wished a garden tour with guide or walk around at leisure the herbaceous borders and topiary. There was a rill down the centre of the main walled garden,. a number of side gardens with an ornamental well and many flowering plants . This was in middle July after 6-7 weeks of high summer sun with little or no rain. Many areas with benches to sit and enjoy the view or if you felt energetic Lots of wooded glades with a stream. These were stepped so take care. There were maps available to show different grades of walk . and when you felt a need of sustenance there was a tea room for tea and cakes, or lunch. All facilities were beautifully built of stone to fit in with the environment. There was also a room with history and pictures of the development of the house and garden- and a book commemorating the visit last year of Prince Charles who was so impressed by the wonderful arrays of hydrangeas that we were told he had ordered cuttings for his own garden.
This was not easy to find so make sure of the details.
