The Parson’s Collar ‘pub and kitchen’ is situated alongside the Lodge at Solent, Parson’s Collar has a captive audience (the only other handy restaurant being the Solent Hotel and Spa) – which might account for the poor service and variable quality food. Our host was not happy with either the speed of service, nor the batter on his fish (and he noticed that someone at an adjacent table sent their fish back as it was cold). My own thin-crust pizza would have been fine if the base had not been soggy. Host did say that prices here were notably better than ‘his local’ in town.
Anyone not living in the adjacent housing estate (or staying in the adjacent Lodge at Solent or Solent Hotel and Spa) would have to drive into town, or walk the 15 minutes to the shopping centre where there’s a selection of eateries.
We had a celebration meal in the Solent Hotel and Spa the previous evening, which was much better.
It is a nicely decorated and laid-out ‘pub and kitchen’, and the continental breakfast (as part of out Lodge at Solent deal) was better then the evening meal.
