Reasons for trip

I had 5 fabulous days in Paris in August, travelling Eurostar & staying near the Arc de Triumph. I had my honeymoon in :Paris 36 years ago & this is the first time I’d stayed since.

Did some things we hadn’t on our honeymoon – went to the top of the Arc de Triumph & saw the views of the star-shaped layout to the roads & had a boat trip under the bridges on the Seine.

But the highlights for me were 3 museums:

1) The Musee de Moyen Ages, including the Cluny where I sat for ages in front of the Lady & the Unicorn Tapestries. They are beautiful with so much detail to absorb & displayed well so you can sit in front of each one & move on to the next. I shall remember them for a long time.

2) The Orangerie, where Monet’s Waterlily paintings are displayed. This was a little more crowded, but wonderful – such a lovely setting as the gallery was perfectly designed for them.

3) The art nouveau museum in the old railway station with so much impressionist and other art. Too big to see much at once – I need another holiday in Paris to go back!

Also enjoyed just walking the streets (& the food, of course).
