I hadn’t realised it was two years since I last walked here. The walk has been really popular with locals during lockdown and the car park was full when we arrived.
It was another lovely sunny day as we walked through the woods talking and identifying the different wild flowers. We found honeysuckle still in flower as well as with clusters of red berries. There was ragwort and rosebay willow herb as well as goosegrass and burdock, both with hooked seeds which caught on our clothes. Bracken, ferns and brambles covered the ground.
The heather was in full flower on the drier areas among the scotch pine.
I particularly liked the dead oak and was amazed to find some seedlings of birch growing on the trunk several feet above my head.
