We tried the “Organic Works Bakery”:http://organicworksbakery.com/ last weekend and will be back for more. There is only one table out front but you can take your purchases next door to “Eldon House”:http://www.eldonhouse.ca and eat in the garden before taking a tour of the house. The bakery is actually in the old carriage house of Eldon House, the oldest house in London, Ontario. They supply the baked goods for the Eldon House afternoon tea program in the summer. We saw some trays of goodies set aside for the Sunday cookies in the garden the day after our visit.
In addition to the baked goods, they have coffee and cold drinks. As the name implies, the baking is organic and some is raw. In fact, it is the only Eco-certified Organic and Gluten-Free bakery in London. We saw lovely breads, cookies, granola, cupcakes, cakes, squares and brownies. I tried the coconut and cranberry cookie – it was delicious. My sister enjoyed her coconut cranberry bar and raw energy bites.
On weekdays they are open from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm. On weekends they open at noon. You can also pick up some baking at their bakery at 222 Wellington Street from 8:00 am – 2:00 pm.
