If you have a couple of hours to spare, the Odeon cinema in Cardiff Bay, next to the Millenium Centre, shows all the latest films throughout the day, alongside lots of eating places indoors. There is even 25% off the meal at nearby Bella Italia on showing your cinema ticket, so a bargain. We pre-booked online to see Ocean’s 8, collecting our tickets at the desk for the 3.45pm performance, a great price for seniors at £7.95 each. Very surprised to find just two of us at screen 7 for this performance, so basically a private viewing!
Not sure whether Les would enjoy it as it started a bit slow and a bit like a chick-flick, but I needn’t have worried as it turned out to be a clever major-heist romp with a few twists and turns right up until the end.
Brilliant casting, especially Sandra Bullock as lead, Helen Bonham-Carter – fantastic frock! – and surprisingly, Rhianna. Also, some great appearances by James Corden and Richard Armitage (very handsome sporting a beard).
I have heard some friends say they were disappointed with the Ocean’s 11/ 12/ 13 so weren’t rushing to see this version. As we hadn’t actually seen any of the others anyway, just the trailer for Ocean’s 8, and didn’t even realise Ocean was a person, we were keen to see it. We were not disappointed – a very enjoyable afternoon.
