I recently travelled to Iceland as only the second lot of tourists that Thomson Holidays has taken and I have to say it was very well organised.
The Reps were extremely helpful and as a person with mobility problems they couldn’t have been more helpful, both at the airport and in resort.
We stayed in central Reykjavík at the 4 star Borg hotel , a lovely hotel in Art Deco style with a spa and friendly staff, although to eat dinner in the restaurant is very expensive , we had BB and there were plenty of good restaurants close by although generally to eat and drink out in Reykjavik is expensive so be prepared!
If you stay in the centre of town be prepared for party nights, every Friday and Saterday the young poeple come out to play until around 4 in the morning so some noise is to be expected, everyone we met were happy and friendly people.
We travelled to the Blue Lagoon which is a natural spring pool and it is very well organised and a lovely experience, we wer also lucky enough to see the Northern Lights on our last night there.
On the whole a lovely experience but i have to say if I ever went again I would be inclined to travel independently and hire a car there but that is only because i found myself on a coach for too long and It didn’t suit my health problems.
I had assistance from the reps at both ends of the journey which was very helpful
and on the whole I think Thomson made a very good job of their new destination holiday.
