If you want to try something different that is suitable for a wide range of ages try the National Diving and Activity Centre in Chepstow Wales. There is a huge man made quarry filled with fresh clean water that is a beautiful view in itself but created there for all to enjoy is a campsite with ‘Pods’ situated to hire nightly, diving, a zipwire that spans across the quarry, segway and for the foolhardy a bungy jump from a crane. I tried the segway with my partner, daughter and friend and we all had so much fun. Silver Segway is easily mastered if you have a reasonable ability to balance and its a bit like riding a bike, you never forget once you have learnt. If you are concerned about protection, fear not as before we went anywhere near the ‘vehicle’ we were issued with a helmet, knee and elbow pads soon resembling ‘Vicky Pollard in Little Britain. The safety instructions and in depth guidance was explained to us clearly and we were given able opportunity to ask the daftest questions. We were then allocated a machine and the instructor stayed with us until we felt proficient enough to tackle the figure of 8 course a few times. When the instructor was satisfied with every member of the party he guided us ‘off road’ to the field along rugged paths which were more challenging but easily manageable by the less confident. Would highly recommend ‘Silver’ Segway for an exciting new challenge that is easily managed by anyone with the ability to balance. There is a cafe on the premises with an excellent view of the quarry and activities for the less daring amongst us.
