We visited New Zealand to visit my sister who lives in Tauranga on the North Island and also to explore the South Island,I had visited before but it was a first time visit for hubby and when we were setting off for the South someone handed me a slip of paper with the words” Mussel Inn – a must to visit for lunch ”
We were going to Golden Bay to visit a friend and as that is where the afore mentioned restaurant was we thought we’d take a look and Wow, so glad we did !
In a beautiful and tranquil setting, amongst trees and flowers, silver ferns and the ever present sound of the soothing Ceceda insects we ordered our lunch which was divine, nachos with avocado and sour cream, beef fillet sandwiches, beautiful bread and salad dressings and home made chips to die for and all washed down with a mind blowing choice of local and strangely named beers and ciders ( not for the driver-one drink is one too many in NZ )
As we where there at lunchtime it was very relaxed and laid back…we could have lingered there all day.At night time they have live music and it does get very busy.
There are lots of quirky things that I won’t disclose as I wouldn’t want to spoil your visit but do make sure you take a visit to spend a penny !!
Fabulous place and would certainly go back again if we ever get the chance.
