The mummified monk on Koh Samui is an interesting place to visit. It is a small temple with the mummified remains of a Buddhist monk who died in 1973 after having lived a good life as a monk for many years. Apparently he foresaw his own death and his remains did not decompose so, as he had wished, his remains were placed in an upright meditating position to inspire followers. He is apparently wearing sunglasses as some people found the eye sockets disturbing.
