We chose the Saga mystery cruise because it was the only one I could find that left in March which was to celebrate my husband’s and my own 75th birthdays. This was our first river cruise and I didn’t mind where we went and the idea of a surprise was appealing.
All we knew was that we flew to Prague and flew home from Berlin. Seemed therefore that the River Elbe was a good bet.
We were thrilled with the ship “Johannes Brahms” and found our cabin cosy and comfortable with a picture window out to the views. There was a nicely appointed lounge with (not particularly comfortable) sofas and chairs and a well stocked bar and resident pianist (although he was multi-talented and could play many instruments as well as sing).
The dining room was on the lower deck and it was fascinating to eat with ducks and other river attractions at eye-level. Food – well it goes without saying – too much of it – but boy was it good. Hot, varied, well cooked, amazing selection and perfect presentation.
Although we started off in Prague the first mystery was that we didn’t stay here. We were no sooner on and rested then it was cast off at 7.30 to our first destination in the Czech Republic – MILNIK.
