It has been a while since I was last in here and in fact on the last couple of visits I had been disappointed by the cake selection.
Living by myself, I rarely make cakes, but do enjoy a proper cake. I had a bag of things to take into the Hospice shop next door, so decided to go and check out the cake selection.
I was in luck today as both the coffee and chocolate cakes looked good. I settled on the chocolate fudge cake which was as good as it looked. It was a fairly dense sponge mix but moist and made with lots of cocoa powder. Portions were generous too and it would have stretched to two. It was definitely 5* again. There was just enough icing and buttercream filling. Any more would have been sickly.
When leaving I made a comment that on the last visit I’d not been tempted by the cakes. They bake daily, but not all the cakes are on display, so it is worth asking if there is more choice.
This is now back on the list for future visits, especially as the cakes are only £2 a slice.
