On arrival by coach we were met by a porter who transferred our luggage to reception and were then greeted by a very friendly receptionist who welcomed us and gave us all a glass of champagne. A good start. He then took our details and passports (my cousin was also with my wife and myself) and went on to say that there was a problem with the single room which my cousin had booked. They didn't have a room for her but to try and make amends they upgraded our room from a double with a sea view to a suite with a sea view. This gave us an extra room for my cousin to sleep in and also a separate bathroom. They asked if she could do this for the 1st night only then they would upgrade her to a double room with a sea view. Both the suite and the double room were then for the duration of our stay. I asked to speak with the manager but she was not working until later in the evening so I ask that she ring me when she arrived to arrange a meeting. We accepted this and were shown to our suite along with our luggage. After about 5 minutes the porter arrived with a bottle of champagne on ice and a plate of fruit as an extra apology. When the manager came on duty she rang me and we all arranged to meet immediately. The first thing she said was the mistake was entirely down to her and no one else (she immediately went up in my estimation) and she would provide my cousin with a complimentary bottle of red wine as she doesn't drink champagne, tea and coffee making facilities, sparkling water every day and late check out. What could we say but thank you as she was trying to rectify what was initially a poor start into a pleasurable experience. Things only got better after this. It was our wedding anniversary while we were there and they surprised us with another bottle of champagne and a home made anniversary cake. A lovely touch. You may think we were treated like lords, which we were but so were the other holidaymakers so there was no extra special attention given to us. It was just a 5 star experience from a 5 star hotel. All the staff were 1st class as was the food and cleanliness. Would we ever book this hotel again, you bet we would. All I can say is thanks for the memories, Lindos Memories. I would highly recommend this hotel without any fear whatsoever.
