Mielle Patisserie is located on the ancient, cobbled, West Street in the heart of the border town of Berwick Upon Tweed.
It is quite a small cafe, which has direct access from the street. It is decorated in light blue, with wooden tables and chairs.
Cupcakes, pastries, sponges, tarts scone’s contribute to the wonderful array of cakes stacked behind a glass counter which are visible as you enter.
When I first visited early June, I enjoyed a warm latte and a delicious and generous sized portion of Coffee and walnut cake. This week, the sun shone and I couldn’t resist trying their iced coffee. Cooling and full of flavour, it was topped with whipped cream and a tasty caramel sauce, it arrived in a tall glass. I also chose a white chocolate and raspberry tart (£1.75) which had nice light pastry with the filling being crisp on the outside but soft and flavoursome in the middle! Coffee is their speciality but they also sell milk shakes, hot chocolate and juices. As well as cakes and pastries, light meals, quiches, salads and sandwiches are available.
The staff are friendly, it is conveniently located almost opposite a public car park and although tucked away in a side street it is in the middle of the town, just off one of the main streets Marygate. It is a lovely place to stop when shopping or sightseeing.
