Manor Heath, just outside Halifax town centre, is a perfect place for an inexpensive few hours if you have small children. It has a lovely little cafe, a peaceful walled garden, large sand-pit and shallow paddling pool, a "jungle experience" for £1 with huge butterflies flying free in a tropical atmosphere (small children free entry), and traditional inventive play equipment. Plus ice-cream vans and picnic tables. On a sunny day what more could you need? On the day I took my grandchildren it was full of chatting parents and grandparents and happy children doing their own thing.
