5 days in Malta and best thing was fantastic weather. It is extremely good value for money if you are looking for a short break and the sunshine. And of course, English is spoken everywhere, so it makes for an easy holiday. However, food for us left a lot to be desired, as it was all very samey. What surprised me most, having been there before (many years ago!), was the extent to which it was built up. There just seemed no quite place to get some solitude. It was not the height of the season and yet, everywhere was so busy. The island was full of roadworks which meant it took ages to get anywhere, despite the fact it is a small island. We did take the ferry to Gozo, which is very cheap, and although we were only there for a day, we really enjoyed it. Definitely, prettier than Malta, and buildings in much better repair, and more upmarket. Would consider staying there, but no wish to return to Malta.
