We went here because I had a Smartbox voucher for a 'Romantic Getaway', and we weren't disappointed. Our first floor room faced directly onto the Millenium Bridge which is a pedestrian/cycle link between Newcastle and Gateshead. At night it is lit up and the colours change, very pretty. The room was a little small but well equipped, lovely toiletries in the bathroom. As part of the Smartbox deal a bottle of beautifully chilled white wine in a cooler was delivered shortly after we arrived. We chose to eat in the restaurant, although in hindsight it was a tad expensive – very little change from £100 for the two of us. They do have 'meal deal' offers but not at the weekends! Overall it was a good stay, Newcastle is a lovely city and there is lots to do -the museum is well worth visiting.
