Mainly stayed in and around Funchal but visited the mountains/scenic coastal points/fishing villages near the capital. The point I want to make is that it is not just for older people or 6 free hours from a cruise-ship. The island has more to offer for all ages and though not the place for the Ibiza party set, it would still appeal as a break for the young tourist who appreciates a little culture/great scenery and is not just a party animal.
