We like this hotel and its location and return every year. Situated in the picturesque Old Village of Shanklin in the Isle of Wight it is ideal for a relaxing break away. Its gardens and grounds are in a beautiful cliff-top location overlooking the sea and there are steps down to the beach. Opposite the hotel are gardens with mini-golf, cafe and also Shanklin Chine, which is well worth a visit. The Old Village itself attracts many tourists with its thatched cottages, quaint shops and tea rooms.
The hotel meals are excellent with a good choice on the menu and generous portions. We always find the staff very friendly and helpful and nothing is too much trouble. There is an outdoor pool in the hotel garden and guests can also use the facilities of its sister hotel next door which has an indoor pool, sauna and hot tub, which is a bonus. Free tea and coffee and daily papers are on offer during the daytime in the hotel lounge, here you can relax and look out onto the hotel gardens and the sea.
In all, an ideal place to stay at a reasonable price.
