We were astonished at how lovely these gardens were. We visited in early spring when everything was just beginning to burst through, the rhodedendrons were out and it was gorgeous. We particulary liked the kitchen gardens and the discplined way that everything was laid out to grow food for the house. There is a wonderful cafe and garden centre. We spent quite a lot of time walking around the grounds. They are quite big and in order not to lose the visitors so that you end up with the lost visitors of Heligan, they give you a small compass to keep as a souvenir. A really lovely place to visit, especially if you are in Cornwall for the Eden Project and visiting some of the many gardens there.
