My husband was given tickets for a guided tour of Lords and I went with him, fully expecting to be bored senseless. How wrong I was! It was the best tour of its kind I've ever been on and this was the opinion shared with the other 20 or so people in our time slot. Our guide was an ex-pro cricketer whose knowledge, enthusiasm and witty delivery made the nearly two hour tour a delight. Most of the other members of our group were young Shri Lankans who were over here for the England/Shri Lanka test match. They thought it was marvellous and we all bonded as we followed our guide around the grounds. The museum was a treat and houses the actual Ashes urn ,which we were all surprised to discover is tiny. Full access to The Long Room and Media Centre added to our enjoyment. All this for £12 (Senior admission price). We would recommend this tour to anyone and our Bowls and Sociall Club have already booked a group tour for next month.
