Looe in Cornwall is a great holiday destination or a day visit. The town is divided by the Looe River which is tidal. The main town is situated on the East bank and most the shops and recreational facilities are located along a number of pedestrianised streets leading down to the sandy beach and the banjo pier with the residential areas rising up the slopes of the steep hills overlooking the town. The East bank is similar but less developed and the road along the harbour leads to more modern hotel and residential development over looking the sea ,a rocky beach and Looe Island and the coast.
There is parking on the East Harbour and over the river bridge to West harbour. Road access is from Liskeard and the Looe Valley line connects to the main railway station at Liskeard. There is a good bus service from Liskeard which runs to Polpero from Looe. The best way to travel to Polpero is by taking one of the many boat trips from Looe harbour around the coast. The harbour is very colourful and many boats are moored in the river. Looe occupies a pleasant location and is a good base to explore the many attractions and towns in this area of Cornwall.
