The Liverpool Pride event in July 2017 chose as its theme “International Love”. The idea is, that love crosses generations, race, faith, gender, sexual preferences, nationalities, histories and identities. It was all about standing together with communities across the world who are still fighting for equality and tolerance. The rainbow flags and the myriad display of colours symbolised the hope and solidarity.
It was truly a fantastic parade of colour and a real celebration of diversity. The atmosphere was friendly and exultant. The photos I’ve put up here do not do justice to the exuberance. In my opinion it was an event not to be missed!
I would like to give a bit of practical advice for visitors who would like to come to Liverpool for this kind of event. After enjoying the spectacle, we needed a sit down and refreshment. I can recommend the cafe in the magnificent Liverpool Central Library building in William Brown Street near Lime Street railway station. They have a great selection of light bites and scrumptious cakes. While you are there take a look around the stunning building itself.
