This is the second time we have stayed at this delightful Chambres d'hotes de charme on our way back from a month travelling through France and I cannot recommend it enough. We always try and stay at small interesting hotels when travelling and this lovingly restored mill is something very special. There is a lift and rooms are decorated with style, have comfortable beds and spacious showers. Breakfast is a delight, with cold meats and eggs in addition to wonderful breads, pastries and Isabelle's delicious home-made preserves and freshly squeezed fruit juices which included a very refreshing strawberry. Le Moulin du Port is perfectly placed to visit the main Loire chateau area and on this occasion we visited Chambord which must be the one of the most spectacular chateau we have ever seen. There are too many to mention but just a few miles away is the last home of Leonardo DaVince in Amboise which is fascinating and a must to visit. The small old town of Montrichard 2/3 miles away has a delightful square with several good restaurants. The hotel has a heated pool and lovely garden where you can sit and relax after a swim. There are also nice walks along the river (straight from the hotel), with grassy banks to sit on while having an early evening drink. This is a beautiful area to stay for a holiday as there is so much of interest. Isabelle is a very welcoming host and it is obvious that much love and care has gone into restoring this lovely old house. Please visit the website for further information – www.lemoulinduport.com
