We found this ‘hidden gem’ on an accommodation site on the internet. It is fabulous and extremely good value. Has recently been completely refurbished, so is new, clean and extremely comfortable for a couple. It comprises kitchen, lounge, bedroom and bathroom. Loads of surprising extras, ranging from a cafetiere to a flat screen TV with freesat and a netbook which you can use free of charge to check your emails or search for places to go. The owners live next door and they are extremely friendly and helpful.
The village of Tideswell is very picturesque and a fantastic base for walking. It is situated right in the middle of the Peak District. There are plenty of places to eat and drink and there is also a small supermarket for all your needs. If you want to leave the car behind, there are local buses which go as far as Manchester and Sheffield or take you into the surrounding villages.
Tips – you can park safely anywhere on the roads outside or very close to the lodge. There are several steps up to the accommodation. Vanilla Kitchen next door is a super place for coffee, breakfast and snacks. Book early as people have found this place and ‘like us’ want to go back again.
