Reasons for trip

For anyone who enjoys visits to magnificent stately homes with extensive gardens and estate grounds, Lanhydrock is a must! The house itself is stunning! Unlike some, it is fully and extensively furnished and there are plenty of rooms open to visitors, including the extremely impressive kitchens. (Look out for the mouse in the trap on the kitchen floor!) The gardens are a mix of formal and informal and within the garden is a delightful, small church. The estate itself covers a large area and there are many delightful walks through the grounds and the woodlands. It does get very busy, especially in high season and, more so now, since they developed the cycle trails and set up a bike hire facility. However, it is still a wonderful day out for seniors, or families alike. We first visited when we were living in Wales, but now that we live in Cornwall, we probably visit 6 or 8 times per year, (Christmas is especially magical!) and will continue to do so. Highly recommended.
