This was our second visit to Lake Louise, the first having been in the summer of 2016. We wanted to return to see it in the winter, and we weren’t disappointed. It’s a truly beautiful spot, surrounded by mountain peaks and a glacier, maybe even more spectacular when covered in snow and ice!
The lake is completely frozen, the part nearest to the car park having been prepared as an skating rink with a ‘grand’ entrance – the walls an ice castle! There is the possibility of snow-shoeing and cross country ski-ing on the rest of the lake, but what we really wanted to do was to take a sleigh ride. Horse-drawn sleighs take you along the trail at the edge of the lake, descending on to the ice itself (we held our breaths!) to turn around before coming back.
It was a magical trip, with photos that do their best to bring back the wonderful memories of our visit.
