The most famous menhirs and standing stones are found near Carnac in Morbihan, but there are others scattered all round Brittany.
The Alingnements de Lagatjar are on the outskirts of Camaret on the road to Pointe du Penhir. They are found in a large grassy area beside the road. There is plenty of parking along the road. Coach tours drive slowly past while people take photos through the windows.
There is no admission charge and the site is open all hours.
There are about 140 standing stones up to 2m in height. They are arranged in two rows with another row at right angles. It isn’t as impressive as the alignments at Carnac and if you have seen them first you may be disappointed by this site. The great thing is that you are able to wander among the stones and take photographs. It is worth a short stop.
