The Hop On Hop Off Kuala Lumpur city tour uses rather old double decker buses. We were slightly disappointed that none of the buses we saw on the day we used the system were open top as shown in the pictures as although we were at the end of the rainy season it was a dry day. We picked the bus up outside the Pavilion Shopping Centre which was a few minutes walk from our hotel and where there is a booth selling tickets. The tickets cost 45 ringitt (about £8.40) and were valid for 24 hours, the buses run about every 30-40 minutes.
The bus stops at many of the main tourist sights such as Central Market, the National Museum and the Lake Gardens as well as shopping malls etc. Although it was supposed to be a multilingual commentary it did not seem to work too well but all the stops were announced in English. We mainly stayed on the bus as we had visited many of the buildings on a previous visit to KL. We did get off at the Bird Park and the Twin Towers (both also reviewed).
We enjoyed our trip around KL and consider these buses a good way of getting around though we do feel the buses are getting rather worn out.
