The City of Kelowna sits on the edge of Lake Okanagen and is the perfect place for wine lovers. There are many winery tours you can take. However, we chose to visit the Tree Brewing Beer Institute and sample a flight of beers. A great choice of beers was enjoyed and we had a nice relaxed time in there. However, there is no catering for anyone not wanting to sample beer. When we asked for a non alcoholic drink we were told in a sassy manner, that it was a brewery! Maybe designated driver hasn’t caught on in Kelowna yet!
Kelowna really is a city, the largest place we went apart from Vancouver. We stayed in the Delta Grand Okanagan Resort, which has it’s own lagoon and is a very impressive hotel. You don’t really need to leave it there is so much in there.
There is a lovely walk along the lake side where you come to the beaches, complete with volley ball and all the other things we associate with time spent on a beach. A clean city with a nice feel to it.
I can recommend The Cactus Club for a meal and Moo-Lix on Bernard Avenue for the best ice cream ever, you can even see them making the waffle cones. I had Birthday Cake Ice Cream – and yes it just tasted like Birthday cake.
