A wonderful day can be spent in the Scottish borders on the Arbigland estate visiting the John Paul Jones cottage and birthplace museum, and then walking on the estate to visit Arbigland garden, and if you wish take a House tour at 3pm. A circular walk on the estate and long the Solway Firth shore towards Carsethorn overlooking Cumbria can make it a full day out.
