Catch the Metro to Concorde and then walk through the Jardin des Tuileries towards the Louvre. You will first find a large sun-trap supplied with chairs. If the weather permits, find an empty chair and take in the day. Note that the French style is to bag two chairs and sit on one and rest one’s feet on the other. So inspect your chair for footprints before being seated! When you walk through the garden you will find it somewhat boring – symmetrical wide paths separated by grass, statues and ponds culminating in the Arc du Carrousel. Nonetheless, the garden is a pleasant refuge in a busy city.
