Very much on the spur of the moment we booked four days in Istanbul.
We travelled from Heathrow with Turkish Airlines and no wonder they have been voted Europe’s best airline comfortable, great inflight entertainment, delightful crews and great food, hot meals both ways and unlimited drinks and leather seats, in economy.
We stayed at the Sura Hagia Sophia Hotel in Sultanhamet, a great spot for exploring that side of Istanbul, we walked absolutely everywhere , except one day where we ventured on modern Istanbul.
We could not have been more welcome wherever we went and the hospitality show to us was heartwarming, The British are more than welcome. We ate, drank walked and shopped til we dropped.
The hotel although 5 star, is really only that because of the facilities but it was very comfortable and well appointed. One warning do not order fish by the weight it is outrageously expensive
There is very tight security everywhere soon feels completely safe thoroughly recommend it for a short and interesting and fun break
