We were a group of 8 couples travelling to a funeral nearby and found this hotel on Booking.com at a bargain price for three nights B&B. It is set in beautiful gardens with views over fields towards the sea in the distance. It is near Cockermouth and not far from the Western Lakes. I noticed that it has been awarded the 4 Star Silver Award from Visit Britain
The outside of the hotel is impressive and there is plenty of parking. There is a restaurant and bar and plenty of groups comfortable armchairs once inside. The ensuite bedrooms are clean and comfortable with TV; free wifi; kettle, tea, coffee and biscuits; iron and trouser press. The breakfast we had was excellent and the evening meals in the restaurant were smart, beautifully presented and delicious and surprisingly well priced. The waiters were attentive and very friendly. The staff could not have been better. The only downside was that there was no lift.”See what the Hunday Manor Country House has to offer”:http://www.hundaymanorhotel.co.uk/
At lunchtime on the day of the funeral I realised that some of the family would simply disperse after the afternoon tea wake at the Golf Course and that it would be a shame as we don’t see each other very often and had travelled 350 miles to be there, so I asked if they would be able to cope if a group of 30 wanted dinner there the same evening. They were not fazed at all and after asking whether we would like use of the Function Room, set up two long tables in the restaurant which I thought was better. Everyone commented on the quality of the meals that they produced at such very short notice. The waiter also did an amazing job serving us all in a timely manner and everyone commented on my choice of venue, not suspecting that it was a last minute decision.
I would definitely stay here again.
