Reasons for trip

What can be better than a gift of afternoon tea for 2 at one of the Huffkins tea shops in the Cotswolds. We thoroughly enjoyed ours at Stow-on-the-Wold, plus previously in Witney (other opportunities are in Stratford-upon-Avon, Burford and Cheltenham). So if you are stuck for a Christmas gift idea try a classic afternoon tea voucher, currently at £18.

They cope well with food intolerances, allergies, and changed the offer of cream chocolate eclairs, tipsy rolls, and other indulgencies to fruit cake choices, lemon drizzle, and bakewell tart as I cannot eat cream or chocolate. Sandwiches were tuna, and chicken with bacon, and egg with cress on the day we visited, but again you can request a change plus you have warm scones – for Christmas time you have a choice of cranberry and cinnamon scone – lovely!

We were lucky with a window seat so could look out on the Market Square as we enjoyed our latte and fruit tea. You could book a window seat if you wished to reserve a place and time, but otherwise you can just turn up with your voucher as we did.

A lovely afternoon out, and you don’t need any dinner afterwards!

Huffkins founded a bakery in Burford in 1890, and now export their cakes around the world and into Royal palaces including Buckingham Palace and Highgrove House. After your tea you can always buy more cakes to take away with you in their shop.
