Reasons for trip

We travelled to the hotel Riu Caribe in Cancun in May 2016 as part of a two week family holiday to celebrate 3 family birthdays. We were working to a very tight budget and wanted to book all inclusive. Most hotels in Cancun were way above our budget but we managed to book the Riu Caribe for an exceptionally low price for two weeks all inclusive just within our budget. We were slightly worried as the hotel appeared to have mixed reviews online however, this was an unnecessary worry as we had the best holiday ever. The hotel was spotlessly clean from room, to public areas, to the hotel grounds. The staff worked tirelessly to keep the whole place clean. The food in the three speciality restaurants was not the best however, it was nice to try them. We tended to stick with the main buffet restaurant where there was a huge variety of lovely food and something for everyone. There were four pools. A children’s pool, a party pool a quiet pool and another lovely pool next to the children’s pool which was great for families. The beach and sea were stunning and the hotel staff worked tirelessly to clean the seaweed and cigarette butts. I couldn’t believe that people just dumped their cigarette butts in the sand on the most beautiful beach I had ever seen. Shame on you!
The sea was cristal clear as far your as you could go and the sand stunning. The rooms had the most stunning views from the balconies and as far as I could see all rooms had a sea view so no worries there! There was a fridge stocked with beer, coke, seven up, tonic water and bottled water which was replenished daily. The were also four optics that dispensed spirits. There were four bars including a swim up bar and a 24hr sports bar. The entertainment team worked hard organising games and fun on the beach and in the main pool throughout the day and arranged entertainment and shows in the evening. There was a kids club and mini disco in the evenings for children over four years. All in all we had the best holiday and we travelled as a family of myself 60 years, my son and his wife both early 30’s and my other son and his wife and two children 4 years and 18 months. There were lots of sightseeing tours available if you wanted to book them. We too the ferry to Islas Mujeres one day and hired golf bugies to get around. This was very easy to do as the ferry port is only 5 minutes walk from the hotel and the golf buggies were such fun all in all a great day out.
